True, the potential market size goes down, although pockets are no less deep
at hamfests than anywhere else. There's an expectation that the price will
be low simply BECAUSE it's a hamfest. Maybe that's reasonable, maybe it's
not. But it is the way it is. And naturally many eBay resellers cruise
hamfests looking for "hamfest" priced items, (and as if they're dipped in
Botox, will unflinchingly remind you that "this isn't eBay" when they chide
you about your asking price). Then THEY flip it on eBay for more than what
you were asking to being with. (Irritating).

I once had a lady argue that if I'd just come down $10 she could buy
something for her grandchild, too. If I didn't come down, her grandchild
would be the one to suffer. There was a lot of grumbling. She'd leave and
come back and grumble some more. A few minutes later, she came back and had
a go at my wife who was watching the table while I took a bio break. I
thought $125 was a darn good "hamfest" price for a nice Collins 180S-1 to
begin with. She finally, grudgingly, took away the tuner at the asking
price, but let me know what a terrible person I was.
