Dear Mr Holtman,
I applaud your attempt to track eBay prices. However, your belief that
time is the crucial factor is unusual. I would suggest that you would get
a better idea of causal factors driving prices if you asked the successful
buyers - after all, it was they who made the buying decision, not the
clock or the calendar. By asking the buyers, you might also learn what
they thought of the price paid once the goods actually arrived on their
doorsteps.
For instance, one buyer might tell you that a price of say $1200 was
agreed for a KW-1B and when it arrived it was spotless and the new
owner thought it was a bargain.
Another buyer might have won a 51-J5 at $750 and when it arrived
it had a pretty face but was gutted and required a complete rebuild
- not happy, Josephine.
This kind of information is far more valuable than that a piece of
equipment sold for $100 at midnight on the 30th of February. So
what?
