 Ed, one method that hasn't been mentioned is to use a cut
 piece of "leaded" safety glass from an older TV set.  They
 used to use a safety radiation shield glass on the earlier sets
 before they began bonding it to the CRT.

Leaded glass will stop X-rays but not do much if anything for RF.
Transmitters with less than 10 KV or so on the plates will not make
x-rays, so leaded glass is pointless. Use copper screening with the
edges well soldered to a conducting frame to guarantee the X and Y wires
are all bonded together.  Last seen, Home Depot had copper screening.
