Gents

I would like you input and info regarding the Gonset GSB-201 Linear amp. I picked up one at a tag sale, and when I say picked it up I had to put my back and legs into it. A lot of weight for a small package. I recall the Gonset Corp when I was a teenager as a SWLer, but that's it. This one says it's a model # 3340 on the manual cover what does that imply to? I see that there are four 811A's installed in it. Looks like the last owner now an SK wrote in the manual in the spec's section for the tubes 572B's? I asked his son if dad had been running this amp whit that config befor? He was not shure sense he (the son) was not a ham.

Were there different models of the GSB-201? Any mod's that came up through the years? I see some yellow wires added looks like a mod of some sort. I was advised by the son that this amp may have been out service for close to ten years, about the time his dad took ill. Too bad I got to the tag late, 15 mins after the opening bell. I looked around and saw what was be a National radio whit the red emblem on it. The guy standing next to it avised me it was sold! A closer look and it was a Gonset GSB-101 whit the those big 866's sitting in the back cover was MIA. I asked what was his call sign, stated he was not a ham??? Looked liked all the good stuff was taken. I was walking out and saw this GSB-201 laying on it's side whit the top cover off under a bench. The price was shure right!

What should I look for so I don't let the smoke out the schematic looks stright forward.

Regards' Rock
