The high impedance replacement cartridge from Mouser
works very well in the D-104 and has a pretty "flat"
frequency response from under 100 Hz to over 8000 Hz. 
The cost is just under $5 (plus shipping which runs a
little over $3 minimum per order) these days (price
went up considerably a few months ago).  The part
number is 25LM022 (the "0" is a zero).  However, they
are a bout half the diameter of the original
cartridge.

You can make an adapter out of styrofoam and install
the cartridge.  Or, I do make a replacement kit using
this cartridge.  If interested you can go to the K9STH

I use either the Heil Gold Line mike or an EV 664 with
my 100V with excellent results. The D-104 crystal also
works fine but doesn't give the wide range audio. I
use the 100V both on AM and SSB.
