Yep, that's fairly typical of the mentality of the handbook writers. Another
infamous example is their claim that engineers at GE had heart attacks
because a 1941 BC-696 (12-15 watts output and 3 to 4 MC coverage) was lighter than a
1935 BC-191 (100 watts output and 260 KC to 12 MC coverage).
