[Boatanchors] Computer noise

A couple of years ago I experienced and odd phenomenon that really bothered me.
There was a random burst of noise on the hf bands. It sounded as annoying as
the russian woodpecker. It came and went.
I finally traced it to a computer mouse! Apparently the optical mouse on this
desktop computer was still on even though the computer was "off." And by "off"
I mean it was plugged in and not running although there was apparently stanby
power going to certain parts of the computer.
But everytime the mouse , or even the table, was bumped enough to cause the
mouse to "wake up." When this would happen, hf would be virtually useless in
the shack.
It took a long time before I finally figured it out but what a relief when
that little mystery ended.
