GE gentlemen, (for those not acquatined, GE is CW (code) for Good
Evening)

 Dick,

I have to agree with you. "BOATANCHORS" does not refer to just
receivers.............any more than it refers to individual items such
as: transmitters, tubes, condensers, coils, test equipment and
microphones. Sure, there may be other lists whom are more specific
about an individual item............but so be it. Most of us are smart
enough to probe deeply if we need or want info on an item.

It's also known that not everyone possesses the same knowledge or
skill level on an individual item. So what's new? I couldn't respond to
your query for that reason. But I aint' dumb on all matters.

What you are experiencing is the same that I think we're all going to
eventually come to grips with. Those of us from the Boatanchor and Tube
era are becoming SK at an alarming rate. I find my own expertise
limited these days to those who have some idea of what a condenser
(capacitor) and coil (inductor) are. I will personally tackle a complex
problem with a BA rig IF I have some idea of the nature of the problem
and reasonable documentation (schematics).

I've known a great number of those who could "fix" a rig with little
more than a Simpson 260. In some cases, even I fit easily within that
group.

The list moderator missed the point, IMHO, and somehow linked fewer
responses with paying $20/year. I support the $20/year concept, but
reject the rationale expressed.

The bottom line............. In case you guys haven't noticed, we're
becoming dinosaurs at a rapid rate. If I can help in an individual
situation, I will do so. I like responding to the entire list as we
have some who are just becoming acquainted and they appreciate the
information.

I'm sri I don't have info on tube testers and
mics..................otherwise, you would have heard from me. But
don't go away as there is something in the future we ALL need help on.

Stick with us, Dick...........

Your request is not only valid, but helps make an important point about
the future of Boatanchors in general.

Best 73 de W4MIL

Chuck

I apologize my friends, it apparently was not a lack of interest or no
time to answer, just a lack of expertise on the subjects. Thanks to all
for the support and suggestions.

One reply did stop me in my tracks though. He said this list is for
"boatanchor receivers" and not for tube testers and microphones. Silly
me, I thought we all serviced, restored and maintained our classic ham
radio equipment of all types, including our related test equipment and
accessories if possible. I stand corrected (this only to the gentleman
who reminded me).

Thanks to all and best wishes. Sorry.
