 As has been pointed out by most replies, 63/37
 is eutectic. This means that not only does it 
 have the narrowest plastic range for that 
 mixture, but also that it has the lowest 
 melting temperature. For that last reason, 
 it is the best for general work (iron tip 
 temperature of 700 - 750 degree F). However, 
 if soldering over 40/60 joints, you should 
 use a higher iron temperature (I use 800 - 850F),
 to ascertain that the 40/60 under layer is 
 thoroughly melted.
