[Boatanchors] Yet another tube question

Right on, Glenn. It is these "audiofools" that have run up the cost of tubes
to the point where it is totally rediculous.

Back in my Novice days, I ran PP-6L6s in my rig and experimented with others
such as metal ones, Gs, GTs, 6V6s and 5881s. None of these tubes were
matched and most were "pulls" from a friend who ran a local radio and TV repair
shop. If they tested good on his Precision tester, that was good enough for me,
and I never had a problem with any of them. The power output was essentially
the same with any combination of like tubes except for the 6V6s which was always
a bit less.

By the way, I have amassed all the like parts to recreate this classic rig.
I hope to do it soon if I ever get the time.
