[Boatanchors] You never know what you'll find in a boatanchor manual

Sorry about this long winded story, but I'm a brand new tech (taking the
general the 17th) and I'm getting a DX-100 ready to fire up that I bought
last year from an estate in anticipation of passing the general. I had
glanced at the manual but never really looked at it well. I took it out
tonight to read it as the 100 is out of the case and I'm checking the tubes
etc. I found an original letter dated 6-8-63 to the Heath Co. stapled in the
manual along with the response from Heath dated 6-10-63 (like to see that
happen today), from Ed Borezo Jr. K1SHH asking for info on mods for this
transmitter to change it to a B. They wrote back and advised against
changing it as I guess it would involve extensive modifications (or they
just wanted to sell another transmitter) anyway I checked with the ARRL and
the guy is living in Fla and is still active after all these years. He was
originally from a city about ten minutes from here and I bought it from a
city about an hour from here. He has no e-mail or at least it's not listed
so I wrote him a nice letter telling him his old transmitter will soon be on
the airwaves again (If I don't blow it up, hi!) and I enclosed his original
letter, I kind of wanted to keep it but after some thought felt it would be
selfish of me to keep it and he would probably get a big kick out of seeing
his 43 year old letter to Heath. I'll let you guys know if he responds,
