Just a short email for those of you following along at home :) 

To test my theory that Q8 was bad on the RF-110A (URT-23) I substituted
the suspect 2N2905A with a 2N3906 just temporarily.  The idea being to
make sure it wasn't some other upstream function or component making Q8
behave incorrectly.  I know the 2N3906 isn't really rated enough for the
job, but for a 30 second test I figured I would give a try. 

Good News! With the 2N3906 in the spot of Q8, the darn radio works! It
keys and everything! So now when my 2N2905A's arrive in the mail I can
put this issue to bed. And then onto whatever new issues lurk (now onto
the driver plate volts!)

Thanks to everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) who has helped with ideas or
suggestions.

PS, yes this rig has 4 tubes (whew!)
PPS This radio will make for a monster RTTY station at 1KW+++ key down
all day long!
