These may be the SOLA type (resonant transformer) that use a lot of circulating
current.  (A "regulating transformer.")

GE used these extensively in their Mastr II base stations.  Not only 
do they make noise,
but they have a huge magnetic field.

Had problems with audio amps mounted above or below them in racks due to
induced hum, which was cured only by moving the audio gear.

Your only solution may be to change to an electronically regulated supply or
move the existing ones to another room. :-)
