[Boatanchors] DX-100

Two questions:

Some of you probably remember I bought a DX-100 and fired it up a few months
ago and couldn't get more than about 100 ma of plate current, and I couldn't
set the clamp control because nothing registered on the meter when I put it
to an empty crystal position (stayed below 0 plate current). Someone
mentioned setting it with the transmitter in operation (Glen Zook I think
and probably others). I hooked it up to a Marconi 100 watt dummy
load-wattmeter and was getting about 56 watts max. with my usual 100 ma. I
then turned the clamp control clockwise and the plate current advanced, I
stopped at about 250 ma and the Marconi meter was pegged, in fact this was
on pos #8 it was still putting out about 100 watts on 6 I think.

My first question is, is this a good way to set this control, in other words
is it set close enough or should I check it some other way? When I got to
about 250 ma it seemed to stop advancing or at least at the same rate it had
been.

Also the Marconi is a TF1020A/1 and when I bought it it was advertised as a
75 ohm load, on the front it says 50 ohms and also measure 50 ohms on a
multimeter, is anyone familiar with this unit?
