According to my original manual the connections for
external muting of the SX-101 series IS pins 4 and 1
or pins 4 and 8 (pins 1 and 8 are both connected to
ground).

Pins 2 and 5 are connected to the internal receive -
standby switch to control things outside of the
receiver by using the internal switch instead of using
the control by the transmitter (antenna relay
auxillary contacts, etc.).
