UPDATE: We were on 14.292 Mhz. today but conditions were terrible. Shifted
to 7205 Khz and band conditions improved. Worked several stations in the
Midwest. Please note new frequency. This will be our new calling
frequency and if some would like to go to 20 meters to establish a QSO, that
will be fine - kind of a dual calling frequency for Collins enthusiasts.

It has been suggested by a number of Collins folks that there be a "calling
frequency" established on 40 meters for those of us who wish to discuss
Collins, namely, to get help in restoring/repairing our Collins, to find
parts, to get signal reports, to sell/buy Collins, swap stories, etc.
The format will be highly unstructured as you can tell. The format is
rather like a round-table with a specific focus - Collins Radio.

So, starting on Tuesday, September 12th at 4 PM EDST or 3 PM CDST, etc., I
will be calling for stations using the call, W3CRA on or about 7205 Khz.
Hopefully, we can establish a "calling frequency" that might be thought of
as a kind of "Collins Chatroom." Rather than designate certain days of the
week, this so-called calling frequency will be our own "street corner" to
meet through the week from say 4 PM EDST to 7 PM EDST or about three hours
in duration. I would expect folks to check in and check out and then coming
back later after supper or running an errand for the wife or taking the dog
for a walk!

Again, this is rather "experimental" so please bear with us until we get our
act together on this new venture. It should be a lot of fun without the
formality of a net, etc. to meet other Collins enthusiasts throughout the
week. I would suggest that you give your call and say that you are
listening on the frequency for other Collins operators, that is, of course,
if there isn't a round-table already on the frequency.

Of course, your suggestions are always appreciated and welcomed. Remember
this is new to me so please cut me some slack, as they say. If you would
like to paste this message to other mail lists, please do so.

See you tomorrow and through the week on 7205 Khz at 4 PM EDST.

Thank you
