I don't see anything there that i can't live without.  besides the $4K 
reserve he's got on it, you'd be lucky to get away with less than $5K 
additional expenses by the time you drive up there to get it, repack or 
pack what's there, get assistance in doing this work because if you do 
it yourself your looking at a week more than likely, and you'll be dead 
tired when you get done.

Then you've got to get it back across the border, will customs ask a lot 
of questions about lots of silly things or just say, have at it.

I've been there and done that.  2 years back some friends of mine and i 
went to up north to an estate sale.  We threw away at least 1 u-haul 
truck full of stuff and drove off with two U-hauls trucks full of stuff. 
i made a 2nd trip taking out a full pickup truck load and then left 
another full truck load behind.  By the time transportation costs were 
totaled up along with my share of the estate sale costs,, lodging, 
meals, gas and anything else that came along, i had well over $6K in it. 
  There were two shelves in the storage room with transformers and 
capacitors and you name it that i left behind because of the weight as 
well as not knowing what all was actually there.  Oh yes, there was a 2 
car garage that was over half full that i didn't even contemplate 
taking.  Old stuff, racks cabinets, test gear, some of which was 
military and other assorted oddities.

Prior to that i went to another northern state to look over an estate 
sale.  This guy had an aircraft hanger that was almost big enough to 
hold a C-47.  Stacks and stacks of stuff.  You name it and it was 
probably there.  Some stacks were 15 feet or more tall.  An addition 
onto the hanger was full of civilian aircraft radio stuff from the 30's 
on.  Lots of green radios.  They wanted $100K for it all.  I would have 
needed several semitrailers to haul it away.  Then where to put it once 
it arrived back in the desert here.  Think about costs like what would 
it be to rent 3 semi's and labor to load/unload all this gear, cost of 
manpower, gas, lodging (several days to a week at least) and storage. 
Nope.  If'n you have lots of all the greenstuff and storage, go for it. 
  Otherwise, really give it a good hard thinking.  This sale would have 
run me probably close to $150K and then i'd have had both yards, the 
garage, house and part of the street loaded with gear.  Imagine what the 
city would have been saying about that.

There is a lot more to buying big lots than just the initial price 
believe me.  Been there and done that!
