[Boatanchors] Variac Conversion to 3 Prong Wiring

Hi to All!

I have a Superior Electric Powerstat 10 amp Type 116B
circa 1960. I would like to upgrade it to grounded
three prong input power and three prong output power.

The housing seems like it is aluminum or pot metal and
in at least two sections.

Any ideas on how to adequately and safely ground a
unit like this? Connecting to aluminum sounds like
trouble - reminds me of the 'aluminum house wiring'
disaster.

Did I mention that the unit seems to have quite a bit
of corrosion of the aluminum and was used in a
chemistry lab?
