[Boatanchors] URT-23 !

Actually, they varied in price, depending on the system. Also
on which organization was ordering it.

I never went on any of those "Junkets" you mention, but I flew
into some "HOT" zones where even the Engineers/Techs were
issued weapons, if they knew how to use them.

The cost of a URT-23 system depending on whether it was single
phase or three phase, 60 Hz., or 400 Hz. was right around 35K
per copy. The equipment was guaranteed to run 24/7 with an MTBF
of 5 years. You can still buy them, also a lot of them were sold to
the "Oil Barons" of places like the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and
lets not forget Saudi Arabia, and even Syria. It wasn't the Harris
employees that got to go on "Boondoggle" junkets it was mostly the
politicians, who were wined and dined until they passed a bill to sell
those places the technology, and even run schools to teach their
Officers and enlisted how to run them.

Sometimes this list has Intelligent answers to enquires, mostly I find
it is filled with Myth and other spoilage. Speak from knowledge not
guesses. Thank you very much.

"Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt"! I've done feasibility studies
for the military and other government outfits, I've found the "grunts"
in most cases NEVER get anything but them pay checks, and a lot
of B.S. from everyone about how cushy they have it. Tell that to the
techs that spent a year in Iran, and then got taken prisoner when the
students took over the country. We had six in country at the time,
when they finally got back, they were forever changed.

Whatever the price was, it was too much, with cost overruns, parties,
unnecessary junkets to exotic places for "quiet time" to study designs, etc.
You
don't really want to know!
