First you do not know if you were outbid by a sniper or a guy with as much 
time on his hands as you do and makes a game of setting at the computer 
trying to outgenius the other guy. Personally I do not have time to set 
around like that. I use a bidding service and decide what I am willing to 
pay, including shipping and bid accordingly. Occasionally I am lucky. More 
often than not I loose. Only advantage I have is nobody knows I am 
interested until it is all over. I have bid on things early and had someone 
set and peck at the item $1 at a time until he outbid me.
Bottom line, my way I never get shafted by the "because I gotta have it at 
any cost" syndrome and bid beyond my good senses. May the guy with the big 
'nads win.
