[Boatanchors] The use of upper case letters, a reality check.

Hi Group,
The use of UPPER CASE letters does not denote SHOUTING! After watching this and other lists, I see that this conception is almost universal with a few selected individuals. When a ham is asking for a tube and its designation may be 6SK7GTB, is he SHOUTING it into your eyeballs? Or would you prefer 6sk7gtb? The distinction between upper case letters and lower case letters depends upon whether you were in the military(ie, active or reserve duty) or a baby boomer that never seen a day of military service. In the Navy, EVERYTHING TRANSMITTED IS IN UPPER CASE LETTERS, or was until recently. In amateur radio, upper case letters are used to draw your attention to something important, not to SHOUT into your eyeballs. Which would draw your attention more quickly, a part number 1N2006, or 1n2006? I, personally, find this constant bickering about what case a person uses to be unimportant, and rather childish. As this country is based on free speech, who cares what case they use to pass their info on to others? Also, as you will observe below, my SIGNATURE is all upper case letters as I am extremely proud of being an Amateur Radio Operator for 25 years, and an 11 year veteran of the NAVY MARINE CORPS MILITARY AFFILIATE RADIO SYSTEM. For all you hair splitters, I am not going to change the way I display my signature. There is nothing you will be able to say that will change my mind. Anyone who wants to argue the point, please do so off the list, so the list's bandwidth can be used for other more important issues. So lets get off this shouting crap, and get into something like helping a fellow amateur find a part, or get advice on fixing/restoring his classic/antique radio. After all, that is what this list is for, isn't it?
