Not me, but this story has appeared in QST:
Shortly before World War II an Australian amateur
bought a brand new Hallicrafters S-20R. When the war
began the Australian military was buying up all sorts
of shortwave receivers and the Austalian amateur sold
his to the military.
Shortly thereafter the amateur joined the military and
was assigned to training as a radio operator and then
was sent to his first duty post. At that post there
was a Hallicrafters S-20R. You guessed it, it was the
one that he had sold the military. After a stay at
that post the amateur was transferred several times.
At his last post before discharge there was an S-20R.
Yep, it was his.
A couple of years after World War II the amateur
happened by an outlet that was selling military
surplus equipment. Among this equipment was several
Hallicrafters S-20R receivers. The amateur was
"picking through" the pile when he saw, you guessed it
again, "his" S-20R. He bought the receiver for a
fraction of what he had sold it to the military, took
it home, and again used it on the amateur bands.

Have you ever picked up a piece of gear and found out
that you owned this 30 years ago?
