A Heli-coil will probably work, at least if the knob is solid rather than
hollow, and not now cracked. And if putting the tape in the hole didn't cause
the screw to chew out too much more bakelite. The problem with Heli-coils is
that you can't buy just one. And the special tap and installer may cost more
than a new knob would (if you could still buy a new knob).
