[Boatanchors] Viking Navigator problem

Encountering a problem with the VFO on my Navigator. It works only on the 
160/80M position. Switch and contacts all working, voltages to VFO normal on 
all positions. No obvious damaged components, oils intact, no shorts across 
any of the 40M VFO section. VFO tube draws about 5 ma when working on the 
160/80M position, and 17 ma on the 40M position. Before I start yanking caps 
to check values (with all the inherent dangers therein) has onyone 
encountered a similar problem with a Navigator - or a Valiant or Ranger 
which uses essentially the same VFO?
