I think Scott may have earned the title of "the new Larry Ware". That
name will ring a bell with some of you, he ran a "Home for Wayward
Boatanchors" down in Florida and like Scott, was smitten by radios with
coil catacombs and PW dials. Larry not only shared good advice and
parts, but offered the occasional giveaway goody, based on the "Rules
of Ware" - requiring exhaltation in your most creative prose to convince
him that you, among all others, were the most deserving recipient!

Ah, what fun we had back in those pre-eBay days of one Boatanchor list
and no spam!

What ever happened to Larry? I seem to recall he just sort of got out of it.

Are you trying to talk me into giving all my stuff away like Larry?? :))) Yeah Larry Ware's giveaways based on the "Rules of Ware" was hilarious and part of the fun. Who was it back in the mid 90's that was selling styrofoam picnic coolers full of used tubes for $10 apiece? I remember that fellow saying that he advertised to buy tubes in the local newspaper and before he knew it, had too many tubes :) If I recall correctly, the styrofoam picnic coolers were inexpensive containers, and used for shipping as well..

I must say the Boatanchor lists were incredibly exciting for me in those early days. For the first time I learned there were other BA folks out there, and lists were vibrant and alive with questions and answers, history, details, stories, and fun. And as you mention, there were always FS posts.
