The last time I used one,  (and I've used more than a few of them), the 6AL5 
is a 7 pin minature double diode that is used as detectors, limiters, low 
Voltage (bias) rectifiers etc.  NO GT on the end of it since it's a minature 
tube.

I suppose it's possible. but I find it highly unlikely that they'd use the 
same number for an Eye tube, with or without the GT?
