You know guys I keep reading about the D-104 amps... These were put in
for a reason and not just to help the CBers be loud... I have a very
very good friend that worked for Astatic for years. I was lucky enough
to have lunch with an engineer from Astatic that designed the amp. The
reason for the AMP was two fold...#1 and most important was to EQ the
lousy xtal elements that they started importing. He said to ALWAYS leave
the amp in line and just not to push it that hard. Pushing it was for
the CBers not for HAMS. I have told this story a lot of times. My
fiends that believe leave the amp in... It will work either way but the
audio is at least 50% cleaner with the amp...
My story...Bob W1PE

I want to use my D-104 on my boatanchor rig, but I do not want to use
the
built-in amplifier.
Has anyone done this - to disconnect the amp - but still leave it
installed
so it might be used later if needed?
