I strongly suspect that there will be some hefty AM signals on the
band that aren't corntesting who would be more than happy to say
hello. Vintage Field Day was the first weekend in June and we heard
virtually zero activity then from W1UJR's location in Maine. Plenty of
AMers. but very few (2-3?) running VFD. ARRL Field Day has evolved
into more of an SSB-appliance event with some CW. I even recall in
1986 when I hauled my old KWM-2A to our local Field Day and was
laughed at by others for bringing such a 'relic'. Of course, the
KWM-2A made more contacts than the TS-830 and several other Yaecomwood
riceboxes (we were 4A as I recall). Several folks commented on the
nice audio and asked what I was running, while some OTs knew.

John, got your phone message the other night when you were monitoring
my signals. Tnx fer the report, OM - why not jump in next time and
join the fun? I'm sure you'd be heard well throughout the northeast
and beyond.
