Larry -

My 300G actually has a ceramic post and terminal for a pick-off point
specifically for this, even labeled in the manual. I'm not sure what
you're hooking the Gates monitor up to, so it's hard to say, but
there's a nifty little design on amfone.net by K1JJ for using a scope
as a mod monitor with your rig. A small box with 3 SO-239s installed,
2 hooked together and one utilizing a wire running parallel, close to
the directly-connected wire.
Maybe you could adapt this to your needs?
