[Boatanchors] A couple of questions
Dave Maples

I have three boatanchor questions I'd like to pose:
a. I ran across a cleaner from MG Chemicals that is advertized as a
no-residue cleaner. It did a fine job on a connector for my screwdriver
antenna, but before I apply it to anything serious I'd like to know how well
it stacks up to DeOxit. Anyone ever use anything from MG Chemicals?
b. At the Manassas hamfest today an R-392 and T-195 jumped in my truck for a
very nice price. Several of the interconnecting cables, a headset, and some
other goodies jumped in when they did. I think there's a T-195 manual on
BAMA, but I wasn't able to get it to load. Not sure where I'd find an R-392
manual (I haven't checked BAMA yet). Suggestions on manuals, etc.? Any
helpful hints on resurrecting the T-195?
c. (Not quite a boatanchor question) I have acquired an Icom V-8000 with no
microphone (it needed repair and I fixed it). I'm game to fab a mike cord
for it and use a mike I have; however, it appears to use a shielded cable
terminated in an RJ-45 connector. All the modern stuff appears to do this.
Anyone have suggestions on where to obtain the cordage to make my own
adapter cables? It would be 7 or 8-conductor shielded cable. I'm not
really interested in using Category 5 wire for this, because it is generally
unshielded.
Thanks,
Dave Maples WB4FUR

I need to get in my 2-cents worth of Dayton comments. Primarily I want to
say how enjoyable it was to have so many of you stop by my flea market
spaces to say hello and chat for a bit. I don't think I was without a
visitor for more than 5-minutes! Meeting some of my fellow boatanchor
aficionados is the best part of Dayton. As a plus the weather was quite
acceptable this year - especially Saturday.

Seems like a good time to get off of this list and the Drake list. No more
bizarre administrator messages, bizarre resignations, and bizarre
invitations to the weekly Hallicrafters net.
If anybody is interested in a new albeit moderated Boatanchors list minus
complex rules and solicitations for donations, I would consider mounting it
on my server.

Hi Mike,
There're a cupla other BA lists already, 1 at least is much better
than this one. Similar with other lists. No list mgr prolems there.
I've already sent a private msg to Phil, I can't imagine what the
problem is, but some people imagine a lot of strange things.

Some 1000 of the things went to the surplus sale and
were sold as scrap metal in Okinawa.

Mike go for it.
I would donate towards keeping things going round and round.
I still support AL's QTH operation because their are a bunch of
reflectors that go forever with out intervention of the censors and
Gestapo secret service.
Some of them fall out once in awhile but not the line by line I AM THE
MASTER of all and do as I say and NOT AS I DO.
Their is a lot of good information passed along from people and a lot of
help offered from a whale of a big knowledge pool.
Maybe one liners would fit the bill.!!!!

GE All,
I have 2 GB on my server, am a BA fanatic, and subscribe to the
"Outback" motto "No Rules, Just Right".....anyhow, if someone would
point me in the correct direction to get some list software, I would be
happy to mount the list on the moorefelines.com server, and get some
more disk space from Interland if such were required. as well as more
monthly thruput should that be required. I love this darn list, and am
especially fond of things which glow, get warm, and have high voltages
lurking deep within their innards to entrap the careless
"poker"....besides, as we all know, signals sound MUCH better when they
are processed thru vacuum tubes rather than solid state (I do believe
those audiophiles have at least one thing right, with their even
harmonics LOL).....Considering that the writer is half (or more, if one
believes the XYL) deaf from years of unprotected exposure to gunfire
and turbine/recip engines up close and personal, well, that's saying
something.
Anyhow, I would be willing to host said group, or act as a moderator
(without doing much, of course) for a new, improved BA group!!!!! Since
I am retired on disability, and lost my FAA medical, so sadly, I can't
sit in the pointy end of flying machines any more, and exercise the
rights of my commercial license (of course, getting paid for it as
well--hi--), well, I I am available, basically, 24/7 to take care of the
group business. I already moderate 3 groups over on 'Yahoo" and one more
will not inconvenience me a bit... but do let me know about the list
software, please.
Tnx much, Let me know...... and KEEP 'EM GLOWING"
