[Boatanchors] Security System

I have a similar situation but in my case there's a gate at the entrance to
the driveway.
I didn't do a wireless solution but ran about 300 feet of buried cable to
the gate. Originally
I modified a Radio Shack doorway/window chime unit. These used a magnet and
a
magnetic switch and would produce either a loud alarm or a softer chime when
the
circuit was broken. I buried the switch inside of a water proofed PVC pipe
in the
ground under a magnet attached to the gate. Now when the gate is opened,
there's
a reasonably loud chime to announce the event. I also have a day-night
camera mounted
to view the gate area and which feeds the house cable TV-system. I've
recently found
simple magnetic switch/alarm units at our local 99 cent store.

Not the wireless installation you asked for, but I believe it is more
reliable.
