I'm glad to hear that.  They have a horrid reputation in this 
application (guitar amps) for not lasting too long.  I don't believe we 
exert undue stress on them.

Fortunately my new project is set up to use two 5V4's or one GZ34, but 
the other one uses one GZ34 and I need some spares.


I appreciate everyone's input.
I'd rather not use solid state because it would change the tone.
