Hi All,
Back to W1XAL for a minute, I spent 5 years working at the Geano (sp?) building at 70 Brookline Ave. I worked there from 90-95 as an engineer for NESN. There was a picture taken from an old QST(I think) that showed the Geano building with huge towers on the roof. The picture was taped to the wall when I left in '95. I believe that the photo was taken during the 1920's. The Geano building has essentially become part of Fenway park. We had an access door that opened into the grandstand.
I didn't realize that WYFR/WNYW was associated with the station in Boston. I have been to the station in Scituate many years ago when the antennas were still there. I think the buildings are still there. I'll drive by sometime soon and report back. The buildings were called the Scituate "proving grounds" . Possibly a WWII test facility?? 73's Ross
