Did you tell the seller the truth about the item and then make him a fair
offer or just remain silent and take advantage of the situation?
Yesterday as I was disposing of my radio equipment and some household
appliances and furnature, one out of town buyer took me aside and informed
me that I had an item priced wrong. He advised me it was quite rare and
worth ten times what I was asking for it. I had met this man exactly twice
in my life and hardly knew him. He then paid me what he thought was a fair
value in cash. I offered him fifty dollars back for being so honest, he
refused. His comment was this: "Although the "Golden Rule" is not actually
from the Bible, I believe that we should indeed treat others just like we
would like them to treat us. Although my honesty today cost me money, it
also made me a friend for life who will always know I am honest. That is
priceless."
