[Boatanchors] Electric Radio mags

At the risk of offending anyone, what exactly is the rationale behind this rule (no ebay references)? On other lists, there have been some great, interesting items referenced and heartily discussed at length.  I *guess* I can understand if the rule prohibits advertisement of your own auction. But just as a point of general interest, it seems it should be allowed (with, perhaps a disclaimer of financial interest in the auction)

I would imagine this is not the first time this question has come up, but perhaps I am only too naive to ask the question.  I bet the rules of this list have been in existence for eons, any chance they are due for an update?
