Hi all:
Thanks again for all the help.
I've just put together a 1930's rig as per Electric Radio June 2005 by W2ZM.
Uses a 204A Hartley oscillator/RF amp...and yes...modulated with Heising by
an 849.
Intend to use on 20, 80 and 160 AM...when I get the bugger putting out enough
RF.
Just minutes ago..got the unit squared with a 50 ohm dummy...so it seems like
I'm making progress.
For those deep into tubes..here's some data I've just taken...all comments
welcome:
Tank Coil is 11 turns of 1/4 inch copper x 5 inches long...dual parallel tank
var caps of 500 pf with one of 80 pf ( fine tuning)...one tank end connects
to the plate..other tank end to the grid...tap to ground
Tap on coil..3rd from grid end:
At 1000 VDC @ 40 ma...3.885..Grid signal is 280 volts p2p...plate signal is
800 volts p2p....RF link on grid side is 70 v p2p...120 v p2p on plate side.
Tap on coil..4th from grid end:
980 VDC @ 60 ma...3.885..grid signal 550 volts p2p...plate signal 1000 volts
p2p...RF ling on grid side is 40 v p2p...100 v p2p on plate side.
Soooo..anyone out there with a 204A characteristic curve...and able to plot a
load line?
Oh yeah...my mike is a vintage "candlestick" telephone..you know...they have
the U-shaped clakker those movie stars bang on trying to get the operator...
Tell ya...this sure is fun.
(glad to send pix upon request)
PS: traveling for the next week...no more ham'in...for a few days..
