Had one for a while with the matching 6901 speaker, wasn't at all
impressed with it so it was traded off along with a spare RAO-7 for
another receiver. Was gone through by an experienced tech, properly
aligned, bad components replaced and so on. Didn't find it a whole lot
different than say, a hopped-up Halli S-40B or such. The term 'big,
empty box' comes to mind. I got it in a trade with some other gear for
a 4CX1000 pull.
It was a nice looking set up. Looked much nicer than it performed.
Especially nice was the solid metal tuning knob with its polished
finish. Almost kept it just for that!
This is only my opinion though, not a statement of scientific fact. It
should be reasonably easy to compare the specs with other receivers.
They bring a fair price due mostly to their scarcity/oddity factor.
For the same money, one could get much more receiver in something
else. At the end of the day, it's really about what you like and enjoy
about it that matters.
