When it comes to repairing meters most of us seek 
professional help.  However, there are a few tricks to 
restoring equipment having dead meters.

One way is to use the movement of a similar sized 
(electrical and mechanical) meter to replace the movement of 
the defective meter.

Such 'repair' takes a little care but it can be accomplished 
fairly easily.
