[Boatanchors] Need Design Ideas for Test Bench Construction

Nobody has mentioned carpet as a bench top. I have 2 layers of 3/4 inch 
plywood as a top and it is covered with a carpet remnent. This protects the 
project at hand. If it gets ratty, just pull it up and replace it. You dont 
even have to fasten it done. John
