Gene, thats a good question. I think it boils down to I want to spend more time using the radios than repairing them. With two small kids (under 5) there's only a few minutes here and there to try to unsolder a connection. I guess there are better ways I could spend $250, but heck! What kind of fool would I be if me and my $250 were not so easily parted?! The hand held suckers work, and the braid works, all things I've been trying to use for a few years, but I keep telling myself there has to be a better way. Alas, from what I've read, these hakkos are it!
