[Boatanchors] RS.. was soldering/desoldering

The DigiKey folks have eaten a hole in Radio Shack for the more serious
builder, both home and business. Active Electronics was in most larger
cities and is still in some, continues to sell online.
I remember ordering from the RS catalog when I was 14 years old (Newark and
Lafayette too). I'm 73 now and I will miss them. I still buy components from
the store in Redmond, WA, where the clerks are young men who are students at
local technical schools and they are very sharp.
But then that is not the only thing in life that is changing that I don't
like.
Regards,..........Larry in Seattle

A review of thier financial statement on the SEC web site shows that 60% of
their revenue comes from piece parts sales. These piece part sales are shown
to be 80% more proftable than systems sales. Back end credits for meeting
the manufactures minimums on system sales adds 17.5% to the bottom line
after 180 days.

buying parts. BTW, I'm in one of the 2 high tech capitals of the US.
