Hi John:
Excuse me for the short note...I should have applied the fact that I am
addressing High Frequency RF current, not DC or AC...in an antenna
application.
Well, I've never seen Litz used in an antenna, except for small loops.
Wondered if skin affect, eddy currents or whatever need to be taken into
account...reference to Litz wire in coil construction, for example.
Regards,
Steve
With the conductor you are using at the frequency you are operating,
if the skin depth is significantly less than the conductor diameter
(skin depth is 1/e point of current), the center part of the wire will
not be carrying current, hence the effective gage of the wire will
increase. I'd only worry about it if I were making something like a
tuner coil or variometer.
FWIW,
-John
