Hi Gang,
It's been almost 8 years since I posted my last request for
information on this so let me see if the information pool and deepened any.
;>)
Back in the 50's there was a method of AM modulation briefly
discussed called "Taylor Modulation". I remember an article in either QST or
CQ or 73 Magazine talking about it and there was an example shown that used
a sort of single ended method where the modulator usually was the same tube
as the final and claimed to have increased positive modulation while
limiting the negative peaks.
To clear the air a bit, NO it wasn't control carrier nor screen
modulation in the conventional sense and it was NOT Heising modulation
either. It was called Taylor Modulation.
I can even vaguely recall that the article was included a one
picture description/schematic of an application that used either a 4-125 or
a 4-250A as both final and modulator and it was in a magazine in the old
smaller format and on the left page. Now, if I could only recall what
magazine it was.
So, having said that, anyone got any specific information,
schematics, explanations as to how it worked or a copy of that article? If
so I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance for any information.
