Keith,
What you're thinking of, are not Navy transmitters, but US Maritime
Commission equipment, for the Liberty and Victory ships in WW2.
There were 2 contracts, one was the Federal and the other was the RCA.
The Federal is the FT-102 console (the MF/HF part), with the Mackay 167-BY
transmitter and either the RMCA AR-8506B receiver, or the E.H. Scott SLR-F
in the console. The second console is the Mackay LF transmitter and 128-AY
LF receiver. The RCA console is the 4U, which includes the ET 8023-D1
transmitter and the AR-8506B receiver, the low frequency transmitter
section is the ET 8024A and the LF receiver is the RMCA AR-8510. The
earlier Liberty ships had only the LF setup, in a single 3U console.
The MF/HF transmitters are 200 W CW, 2-24 MHz, both models. They are
basically similar, have the same specs, but look different, sharing the
same basic features and dimensions.
