Bob & All,
I don't know the difference between models, but the TO-6A that I have is a
jewel and works well. Great for finding those pesky leaky electrolytics or
other caps that have poor insulation resistance. It will test caps at rated
voltage.
Sometime this leads to the love'm or hate'm thing, those who are cap
replacers vs. those who aren't. I'm a cap replacer and will replace every
old electrolytic and old paper/foil cap in the rig. The TO-6A ends up as a
piece of grins & giggles test equipment, it confirms most of the old
electrolytics were at or near the end of being useful and some of the
paper/foil caps left something to be desired!
So as a cap replacer, (I was going to replace them anyhow) the TO-6A wasn't
realy needed for restoring an old rig. But it is real useful when just one
stage of a rig isn't playing well and it will either confirm or remove doubt
of suspected caps.
Craig,

Does anyone know the difference between the vaious numbered models, I've
seen them from Tel-Ohmike-4 up to 16, do they work well? Are they worth the
money? The numbers as far as I can tell don't seem to correspond with the
age of the units.
