One only needs to listen to the guys working 'break-in' to hear how
much time is lost when they key up on top of each other, sometimes 3-4
deep, and have to ask for multiple repeats. And as another W2
confirmed to me recently, the guys who claim not to like roundtables
quite often end up being the ones who buzzard away endlessly when they
get control.

I've never understood why anyone who dislikes roundtables or even the
particular one they are in wouldn't simply find another frequency and
call CQ. I routinely leave groups that get too large, move to subjects
of no interest to me, or attract some disruptive element. Even using a
separate transmitter and receiver, it only takes a few seconds. Maybe
they just enjoy the P&M aspect more?

The best parts of AM to me are the more natural sound, relaxed style
of operating, and getting to operate interesting old gear. A very
accepting, knowledgeable group with the usual mix of wing nuts.
