Steve -

The dishwasher will do a nice job on them.  One caveat!!!!!!   Be 
CERTAIN the "sanitize" or "dry" or whatever is turned OFF.  This heat 
cycle will explode unglazed ceramic items that have absorbed water, 
leaving a collections of pieces in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Once clean, relubricate any bearings with light oil.  A bit of DeoxIT on 
the contacts will give them a little lubrication as well.
