All: As usual, I got excellent help from the Boat pilots.

I ordered a set of Bristol spline wrenches from Max-Gain Systems (no
connection, but the Bristol Wrench folks referred me to them).  I had done
excellent business with them before; I expect this time to be no different.

As far as the alignment is concerned, I followed the laboratory procedure in
the book to check VFO tracking, and the result is a bit far for the crystal
to be out of tolerance (unless it REALLY drifted).  Not impossible, though;
something else to check.

Again, thanks much to the list for all the help.

Side issue: There was an e-mail chain a while back about good-quality
control and switch cleaner.  The Radio Shack stuff seems to do well for a
bit and then leave residue.  Recommendations on something better / where to
get it?  I can't get Freon TF any more, I don't believe.
