Hi,
Interesting information on your web page. My first Novice station was was
composed of Heathkit equipment. A DX-60 transmitter and a SB-300 receiver.
There also existed kits provided by a correspondence school called NRI
(National Radio Institute). I think they were out of Washington, D.C.
Their kit line was called Conar. They were provided with various electronic
correspondence courses. They had a course for the "Amateur Radio Operato.r"
With this course you got the kit. I do not believe they made the kits
available without taking a correspondence course. They had some test
equipment kits too I believe.
I have had experience with the Eico and Heathkit.
Of course there is the Ramsey kits which I believe are available today.
