Hi Steve -
You must own stock in Exxon/Mobil if you can afford to drive a boat
like that! Good vehicles though, easy to fix and they run forever. And
the best part, plenty of room to haul big iron.
I also have one of the NC-81X receivers, but the bakelite part of the
knobs are brown, instead of black like most other National 'bar' type
knobs. Somewhere in my cache of parts I do have some NOS bar knobs
(black), but I've never seen brown ones available beyond those seen on
the radios themselves. I *think* at least one other model beyond the
80/81 used these knobs, maybe the NC-200? Does your set still have
brown knobs?
I'd like to find the main dial bezel/escutcheon for mine as the bottom
outside edge is missing along with the dial glass. Other than that,
it's in pretty good shape. Just need to find the speaker to go with
it.
